The floor as a challenge: Functional influences

The floor and the castor are in a state of constant interaction. In order to ensure optimum manoeuvrability and floor protection, it is always important to consider the properties of the floor when choosing the right solution.

As a rule of thumb, hard castors would normally be used on soft floors and soft castors on hard surfaces. But this rule alone does not cover the wide range of conditions to be considered. There are many other factors that need to be taken into account. Using the wrong wheel tread can have a negative effect on traction, lead to static charging or even cause considerable floor damage due to unnecessary point loading. Particular attention must also be paid to water-sensitive and porous surfaces such as wood or natural stone floors. Unsuitable wheels can cause severe abrasion of these floor coverings or leave permanent stains.

The castors and the wheels must therefore be precisely matched to the particular situation and all of the relevant influencing variables must be taken into account. With our many years of experience, we are here to support you and offer the right solution for every type of application.
