CAD: Computer Aided Design
The acronym CAD stands for Computer Aided Design. This means creating product graphics using a computer program. Both two and three dimensional drawings can be produced. CAD allows manufacturers to save costs and time by automating the design process and providing quick and easy access to standardised and existing parts. This also simplifies the editing and modification of product designs. CAD is used in almost all technical fields including architecture, civil engineering, manufacturing and many others.
CAD is applied in several steps: First, the preliminary design of the product is conceived. This involves analysing the requirements that need to be met, preparing various solutions and evaluating them. This is followed by the design. This means that a true-to-scale design is produced based on the specific solutions proposed. Finally, the details are incorporated. This step involves adding drawings of individual parts to be used for the product, for example.Â
Downloading CAD data
The TENTE CAD service offers you the option of requesting the design data for our standard products. CAD data is available for most of the castors and wheels in our extensive product range. On the individual product pages, you can see whether the corresponding data sheet is available. In the overview, you can also display the products for which CAD data is available for download, e.g. only swivel castors with CAD data or fixed castors.
The CAD data is available in different formats. Depending on the product, you can choose between the following formats:Â
3D Studio MAX, Allplan 2008, AutoCAD, Aveva Marine (PDMS), Caddy++, Cadkey CDL, Catia, CIP, DWF, DWG, DXF, HP ME 10, HPGL, I-DEAS, IGES, Intergraph EMS, Inventor, JT, Mechanical Desktop, Medusa, MegaCAD, Metafile, Microstation (DGN), Parasolid, PDF 3D, PRO-Desktop, Pro/E Wildfire, SAT, SolidEdge, SolidWorks, STEP, STL, SVG, Think3, U3D (universal 3d), Unigraphics NX, VRML, VX (Varimetrix), XGL.
